Led by Cory Gallo, the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi (TMMMS) plant wanted to pay more than lip service to the term sustainable. Toyota's vision of a sustainable plant has historically embraced the following concepts:
Innovative production approaches, utilization of renewable energy sources and afforestation/reforestation based on naturally occurring vegetation. The TMMMS site could also implement enhanced land use practices such as sustainable logging of pine and hardwoods, solar collectors for energy production, and harvesting traditional agricultural products such as hay and grasses. Conservation groups, community leaders, and volunteers, are working hard to finish a 200 acre park at the bottom of Signal Mountain, Tn. Once complete, Walden’s Ridge Park will provide a range of mountain biking, bouldering, trail running, and hiking opportunities all within a 10-minute drive from downtown Chattanooga. Walden’s Ridge Park promises to be a major conservation and outdoor recreation success for the community. If you are ever in the town, please bring your bike and ride the trails?
